No one wants to get a hangover from a fun night of drinking. However there are many reasons that you may end up with one when you usually do not. The usual cause is that your system is not used to consuming alcoholic beverages. This happens when you have not been drinking in a long time and try to consume amounts of alcohol that you used to. There are ways to prevent having a hangover the next morning after being out drinking. These are tips that go beyond cutting back on the amount of alcohol that you consume. Of course, that is always a good place to start.

Step One

Eat a solid meal before you go out drinking. Alcohol hitting an empty stomach will always cause a hangover the next day. Many people have a light meal before they go out to drink believing that they will grab something to eat when they get where they are going. To prevent a hangover from occurring do not do this. You should have a well-rounded meal that includes plenty of carbs and protein to help your stomach handle the alcohol that you will be consuming later.

Step Two

Move around when you are drinking. Being in constant motion will help you to consume less alcohol without you even noticing. As you sit at a table or bar you will lift your glass to your lips far more often then if you are walking around talking to people. Walking around will also help your body to digest the alcohol in your system much faster. As you walk your metabolism increases and therefore he alcohol will move through your system. This will prevent you from having a hangover the next morning.

Step Three

Before you head to bed after you have been drinking there are a few things that you will need to do to prevent a hangover. You should drink at least two glasses of water before you lay down. A hangover is mostly dehydration. Drinking enough water before the dehydration kicks in will prevent the hangover from getting a hold of you. One of the major symptoms of a typical hangover is a headache. Take a dose of over the counter headache medicine before you go to bed to stop the pain before it starts.

With a little preparation and thought a hangover can easily be prevented. So grab your friends and head out for a fun night of drinking and hanging out without the fear of having a hangover the next day.
